Liquid is an excellent study to do with any small group.  Their website describes the series as follows: “Designed specifically for your small group, LIQUID is a DVD based experience that features five 10 minute episodes in each series along with a reflections guide.”

Group Discussions

The DVD episodes are just like watching a TV show.  You get to know the characters as the story progresses and for the most part the acting is quite professionally done.  However, it did take a bit for my small group to get used to the format.  We have done video curriculum before but never after watching a TV type of program.  However, once we warmed up after the first week, people got right into the discussion.

Positives

  • Broadcast quality video production
  • Good acting
  • Good script writing to connect people with the topics discussed
  • Simple full color discussion guide
  • Reasonable price

Negatives

  • The discussion guide is very simple and requires some creativity from the leader to keep the discussion interesting and moving.

Rating

I give LIQUID 4  stars out of 5.

Helpful Hints

Explain the concept to your group before jumping into the study so they are not taken off guard.  If there is time email them a link to the website – so they can get a taste of what you are about to do.  Maybe with that extra effort you will get of to a great start and skip the warm up week I had. All that said, LIQUID is definately worth the try!
